How do I manage my class when a student acts out?

Let’s say I send a kid out of the room and she gives me the finger and slams the door. The other heavy hitters in the class are waiting for my reaction. They’re saying, “Ah, this is going to be good! The teacher is never going to get to the homework!”

This child is now a hero.
