Do you let a late student interrupt your momentum?

Watch this video [1:27] to learn why I never ask a child who is late to class where they have been.

When a child walks in late, don’t interrupt the momentum you’ve got going with the class. Ask him or her to sit down, and give them the assignment. If they don’t have a late pass, follow through on whatever your protocol is for being late, and move on. Above all, don’t continue to give that child the spotlight. That may be just what they’re looking for.
