Keeping It Going: Managing a Differentiated Classroom
Available as a Workshop and/or Consulting by Caroline Cohen, Ph.D.
The teacher who differentiates keeps many balls in the air, as s/he addresses the daily responsibilities of planning and managing differentiated curriculum, instruction, materials, and assessment. This training presents organizational techniques for managing a climate of differentiation that supports appropriate levels of challenge and success for all students (grades K-12), and ensures accountability for academic standards and student performance. Learn how to establish and maintain a physical and affective environment that will accommodate the differentiation techniques you currently use, and new ones you are developing. Strategies and materials will be presented for organizing time, space, and materials, as well as for behavior, flexible grouping, student motivation, pre-assessment, assessment, and grading. Techniques will be suggested for communicating about differentiation to students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
Target Audience: classroom teachers (K-12), gifted/talented teachers, special education teachers, curriculum and instruction coordinators, administrators
