Gifted Education: You Have the Job, NOW What Do You Do With It?
Available as a Workshop and/or Consulting by Caroline Cohen, Ph.D.
You’re new to the field of gifted education or you’re in a new G/T job: you’re ready for the challenges, yet you have some concerns about how to be successful from the get-go. This training explores the variety of settings and situations facing G/T teachers and coordinators, and presents productive ways you can approach a new G/T position, understand your roles and responsibilities, and avoid common pitfalls. Dr. Cohen (a veteran of several different positions in gifted education) will share typical experiences and common mistakes, and suggest steps that can minimize the “new kid on the block” feeling while maximizing early effectiveness. Proven strategies and resources will be presented. Bring your questions, do some networking, get reassured and re-energized, and be reminded of why you went into this field in the first place!
Target Audience: G/T coordinators, teachers of the gifted, enrichment specialists, and anyone else who is new to the field of gifted education or new to their G/T job
