Inquiry-Based Learning

Participants will explore the current thinking by researchers and practitioners on the value of providing an environment for students to learn through inquiry. The workshop will also re-visit the concepts from the ’80’s on learning styles, and will provide participants with the opportunity to experience several inquiry based learning opportunities. Samples of a structure for organizing a lesson around inquiry-based learning, as well as specific learning tools for a grade 3 fractions unit will be offered as examples for framing the learning around exploration and experiential opportunities.
